Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns and his actress/pop star wife Natalie Imbruglia have announced that their 4 year marriage has come to an end.
The high-profile couple, who married in the Australian holiday resort of Port Douglas 4 years ago, cites their separate careers and time and distance apart as the reason for the break-up.Daniel has spent a lot of the past year touring with Silverchair in both Australia and the USA.
Natalie's career is bigger in Europe and she has spent a lot of her time in that region.
In a joint statement, the couple say, "While we are very sad that our marriage has ended we want to make it clear that our parting is amicable and we remain friends. This mutual decision has not been taken lightly or quickly. However, our career demands and our lives in different parts of the world have brought us to the point where unfortunately this difficult decision was necessary for both of us. We have simply grown apart through not being able to spend enough time together."??
"We have issued this statement to set the record straight and to eliminate any need for speculation. We will not be making any further public statements whatsoever in regard to this very private matter and we ask that people please respect our sincere wishes in this regard."
Silverchair's only dates for 2008 scheduled so far are for the Big Day Out, starting January 20th on the Gold Coast.
Natalie is up for a role in Hugh Jackman's 'Wolverine', a spin-off of the 'X-Men' movies.
She recently completed filming the lead role in the Australian drama 'Elise' in which she plays Elise Silverton, a woman coming to terms with her tragic past.
