Roy Orbison will be honored with a series of events at Arizona State University between January 24 and January 26, 2008.
Roy's widow Barbara Orbison will attend the Roy Orbison Tribute Concert on January 25 to accept the Lifetime Achievement Award for Roy. The University will also award Barbara the Center's Legacy Award for her work in maintaining and promoting her late husband's music.The concert will feature Truly Lover Trio performing Roy's songs. Then, Herberger String Quartet will perform Kim Scharnberg's 'Suite On Tunes by Roy Orbison'.
The previous day, on January 24, the university will screen the movie 'Roadie'. Orbison played himself in the movie which starred Art Carney and Meat Loaf. His famous duet with Emmy Lou Harris, 'That Loving You Feeling Again' came from the movie.
The University will also open a Roy Orbison gallery with 100 items from his career.
On January 26, Peter Lehman will host the Roy Orbison Symposium, were the panel will analyze Roy's life, music and the cultural impact of his work.
