Australian newsreader Jim Angel died on Christmas Eve (December 24th). He was 67.
Angel was well-known to Sydney radio listeners after spending 44 years on-air in the city.He made his name in the heady days of Top 40 radio at the high rating station of the day, 2SM.
Angel's articulate and authoritive voice gave the baby-boomer audience a precise and seemingly disruptive update of the days events.
After the collapse of the 2SM era following the introduction of FM, Angel went in the opposite direction. He went to talk radio.
It was here where he spent the rest of his career, working with talkback stars John Laws and Alan Jones.
Angel died at his home in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales from a massive stroke.
New South Wales Premier Morris Iemma called him 'a radio icon".
