Robbie William's manager Tim Clark is telling anyone who wants to listen that his star revenue earner may be departing from his long-term label EMI soon.
Clark has suggested to the UK press that Williams may follow in the footsteps of Radiohead and release his music independently. However, it has also been suggested that maybe EMI is not prepared to continue its £80m deal with Williams under its new owners Terra Firma.
Williams contract with EMI gives them revenue from all of his business arms including touring and merchandise.
However, the deal failed to generate the expected revenues after Williams' last album 'Rudebox' missed a connection with his fanbase.
Robbie Williams still has another album to go under his EMI deal. If he leaves, he follows EMI's major roster acts Radiohead and Paul McCartney away from the label and into the independent world.
Coldplay remain as EMI's current biggest selling act.
