Kevin DuBrow, 52 year old lead singer for rock band Quiet Riot, has been found dead in his Las Vegas home.
DuBrow's body was found on Sunday afternoon after friends became concerned that he had not turned up for appointments. At this stage, a cause of death has not been stated.
In a statement at his official website, Quiet Riot member Frankie Banali has said "With Kevin's passing a very large part of my life and my history has come to end and I can't imagine life without his presence".
"I've not slept. There is such a void in every part of my life now. I can't find any words to say that make any sense of it. I can't fix this, I can't change this and I'm expected accept the unbearable. I can't utter a sentence or think of my dear friend or even say his name without a flood of tears".
"I can't stand that I won't hear his voice on the phone.
I can't stand that I won't step on a stage with him again.
I can't stand that I won't share another day with him.
I can't stand that I won't sit across from him laughing.
I can't stand to go past the room and see the awards we earned and shared.
I can't stand that life is forever changed.
I can't stand that I can't change this.
I can't stand that I have to accept this".
Dubrow formed Quiet Riot in 1975 with guitarist Randy Rhodes. Rhodes left the band to join Ozzy Osbourne but was killed in a plane crash in 1982.
Quiet Riot scored their first hit in 1983 with a cover of Slade's 'Cum On Feel The Noize' in 1983. It was the first metal song to make Billboard's Top 5.
The success of the single was the catalyst needed to push their 'Metal Health' album to number one. The album clocked up more than 6 million sales.
In 2005, DuBrow reached a benchmark level in the music industry. He was a character in the Simpsons. In the 2005 episode, The Father, The Son and the Holy Guest Star', DuBrow played the part of the singer in a Christian rock band called Pious Riot. Bart called them a "crappy rock band from the 40's" and DuBrow answered back "we've played more state fairs than The Beatles".
Quiet Riot's last studio album was 'Rehab' from 2006.
On a personal note, the staff of Undercover would like to send condolences to the family and friends of Kevin. Kevin was a regular reader of Undercover News and often emailed us Quiet Riot news.
