Kanye West Breaks Down In Paris

By Tim Cashmere
Mon, 19 Nov 2007 06:25:01 +1100

Kanye West began crying on stage in Paris as he launched his European tour, just one week after the death of his mother.

He played for one hour, then was about to play the track 'Hey Mama' - a dedication to his mother, Donda West from 'Late Registration' - but couldn't go through with it.

Le Parisien journalist Meddy Magloire said to people.com "He said the word, 'Mother,' and just couldn't go any further. A back-up singer, the DJ and a guitar player came over to console him. It looked like he might collapse. He just couldn't continue. He just stood there in a spotlight, crying, while the band continued playing."

At this stage, the remaining tour dates are going ahead as scheduled. Dates are:

NOVEMBER
22 - O2 Arena, London, England
24 - The Brighton Centre, Brighton, England
25 - Bournemouth International Centre, Bournemouth, England
26 - Nottingham Arena, Nottingham, England
27 - Cardiff International Arena, Cardiff, Wales
28 - Plymouth Pavilions, Plymouth, England
30 - Phoenix Park Marquee, Dublin, Ireland

DECEMBER
1 - Odyssey Arena, Belfast, Northern Ireland
2 - M.E.N. Arena, Manchester, England
4 - SECC, Glasgow, Scotland
31 - Pearl Palms Casino Theatre, Las Vegas, NV

(Yeah, we know that last one doesn't count as part of his "European" tour, but we couldn't leave it out now, could we?)
