Cat Power (aka Chan Marshall) has covered Nick Cave for her second album of covers 'Jukebox'.
Cave's 'Breathless' will feature on the albums bonus disc. The song was originally released in 2004 on Cave's 'Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus' album.Cat Power released 'The Covers Album' in 2000 featuring songs by The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and The Velvets.
'Jukebox' features covers of songs by Frank Sinatra, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan and Hank Williams.
It will be released on January 18, 2008 on Matador Records through Remote Control.
Cat Power even covers her own 'Metal Heart', first released on the Moon Pix record.
Guests on the album include Spooner Oldham [Neil Young, Janis Joplin and other luminaries too numerous to mention], Larry McDonald [Toots & the Maytals, Taj Mahal], Teenie Hodges [Al Green, Memphis Rhythm Band], and Matt Sweeney [Chavez].
The CD edition comes in two versions:
