Australia and New Zealand is set for another outstanding turn-out for SxSW 2008. Over 200 Australian artists and 30 Kiwis have applied to showcase at Austin's Music Conference next March.
Austin, the live music capital of the world, will be home to over 9000 artists from all over the world, showcasing at 1500 one hour slots across 609 venues over 5 nights.While Australian organizer for SxSW Phil Tripp is keeping tight lipped about who the Australian applicants are, we do know that 68 are from New South Wales, 48 from Victoria, 35 from Queensland, 30 from Western Australia, 9 from South Australia, 3 from the Australian Capital Territory, 2 from the Northern Territory and 2 from Tasmania.
This year, 250 Australian delegates also attended SxSW.
