MySpace will hold its second annual 'Rock for Darfur' Concert on November 10.
37 shows will take place in cities across Australia and the United States and feature a plethora of artists including John Butler Trio from New York, Megadeth from Perth and Xavier Rudd in Sydney."As I watch the fire around my Southern California home, I know that the devastation of losing treasured personal property, a house, or even a whole city, cannot compare to the evil atrocities that the children and parents of Darfur have had to endure under the ongoing genocide," said Dave Mustaine, lead guitarist, songwriter, and singer for the metal band, Megadeth. "I hope and pray you too will join in helping the people of Darfur in a small way by attending a "Rock for Darfur" concert on November 10. All donations, large and small, are very necessary to help overpower this tragedy. I am doing my part, will you do yours?"
The concerts will benefit Ozfam and the Save Darfur Coalition.
Fans can support the cause by turning up at any of the shows.
"Rock for Darfur is another of MySpace's efforts to empower our community to make a positive impact on the world," said Jeff Berman, Senior Vice President for Public Affairs at MySpace. "Our users are connecting with each other around the world, online and off, to address pressing issues, both locally and globally."
Last year, 22 shows raised $50,000.
Oxfam uses its donations to provide basis supplies to the people of Chad and the Darfur region of Sudan.
The Save Darfur Coalition raises public awareness about the ongoing genocide in Darfur and mobilizes a unified response to the atrocities that threaten the lives of people throughout the Darfur region.
