Superstar Rod Stewart has spent a career hanging out with models. Next month, will be no exception but it won't be for his attraction to the fleshy type. Rod will be on the cover of Model Railroader.
Model Railroader is a magazine for model railway enthusiasts and, as it turns out, Stewart has an amazing train set.At his mansion in Beverly Hills, Stewart has a perfect 1:87 scale model of New York's Grand Central Station from the 1940s.
It has 100ft of track and the model includes dozens of locomotives and carriages from the period, as well as a backdrop of the New York skyscrapers, streets and buildings, not to mention hundreds of tiny little plastic passengers.
In Model Railroader, he says "I'm a great model railway enthusiast and I'm building a huge layout over there in California so that takes up a little bit of time and football takes up a little bit of time."
If you include his collection of former wives and girlfriends and add in the trainset, Stewart would have to be one of the world's great model collectors.
Another great model train collector is Neil Young. Young has gone further than Stewart. He is also a major shareholder of Lionel Trains.
