Former Eagles guitarist Don Felder has released his tell-all book 'Heaven and Hell: My Life In The Eagles', coincidentally, as the band releases its first album in 28 years 'Long Road Out Of Eden'.
In one paragraph, Felder writes "Glenn [Frey] once publicly described our life on the road as: "Got crazy, got drunk, got high, had girls, played music and made money." He challenged Led Zeppelin to the claim of supreme party animals, maintaining: 'We threw the greatest travelling party of the Seventies.' He was right".Felder was a member of the band from 1974 to 1980 and was with them again when they reformed in 1994 for 'Hell Freezes Over' but was fired from the band in 2001.
For the next seven years, Felder went through a bitter legal battle with the group, which settled for an undisclosed amount in May this year.
Felder joined the Eagles for their third album 'On The Border'. On the next album 'One Of These Nights', he sang lead vocal on the track 'Visions'. It was his only spotlight role in his time with the band.
He also who wrote the music for the Eagles signature tune 'Hotel California'.
In this time outside the Eagles, Felder has only ever released one solo album. 'Airborne' came out in 1983.
This week, the Eagles will release 'Long Road Out Of Eden'. It is the first studio album from the band since 1979's 'The Long Run'.
