The Eagles will complete their 2010 tour with two more shows in Melbourne tonight and tomorrow (December 21 and 22).
The band is back in Australia for the first time since the Farewell 1 tour and will complete their year at Rod Laver Arena, the same venue they filmed the Farewell 1 DVD.
This tour brings some from their most recent album ‘Long Road Out Of Eden’ live in Australia for the first time, although one of those songs, Glenn’s ‘No More Cloudy Days’ was previewed on the Farewell 1 tour.
The Eagles show is a historical account of the bands career.
The setlist features a cross section of each Eagles album:
Eagles (1972): ‘Take It Easy’, ‘Witchy Woman’, ‘Peaceful Easy Feeling’
Desperado (1973): ‘Desperado’
On The Border (1974): ‘Already Gone’, ‘Best Of My Love’
One Of These Nights (1975): ’One Of These Nights’, ‘Lyin’ Eyes’, ‘Take It To The Limit’
Hotel California (1976): ‘Hotel California’, ‘Life In The Fast Lane’
The Long Run (1979): ‘The Long Run’, ‘I Can’t Tell You Why’, ‘In The City’, ‘Heartache Tonight’
Eagles Live (1980): ‘Seven Bridges Road’
Hell Freezes Over (1994): ‘Love Will Keep Us Apart’
Long Road Out Of Eden (2007): ‘No More Walks In The Wood’, ‘How Long’, ‘I Don’t Want To Hear Anymore’, ‘Waiting In The Weeds’, ‘No More Cloudy Days’, ‘Long Road Out Of Eden’
From Don Henley solo:
I Can’t Stand Still (1982): ‘Dirty Laundry’
Building The Perfect Beast (1984): ‘The Boys Of Summer’
From Joe Walsh solo:
James Gang Rides Again (1970): ‘Funk #49’
James Gang’s Thirds (1971): ‘Walk Away’
The Smoker You Drink The Player You Get (1973): ‘Rocky Mountain Way’
But Seriously Folks (1978): ‘Life’s Been Good’
Glenn Frey acts as Master of Ceremonies and takes us through the band’s ‘Satanic Rock Rhythm and Blues’ period for ‘One Of These Nights’. We learn Glenn is from Detroit ‘where Mother is half a word", that ‘Witchy Woman’ was written back “when the Dead Sea was only sick” and how in 1975 “Henley and Frey could finally go out and afford to pay for their own drinks”.
After tonight, the Eagles will resume the never-ending ‘Long Road Out Of Eden’ tour in Bangkok in February and throw in some European dates around mid-year.
Undercover caught up with Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit on the weekend. Those video interviews can be seen in Undercover later this week.
