Tom Petty, possibly the most American of classic rockers, is set to be captured in a documentary, 'Runnin' Down A Dream: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers'.
The film was directed by Peter Bogdanovich (The Last Picture Show), who knew little about the band before he began working on the film. The four hour movie is in two parts, with an intermission in the middle for cinema audiences.
Petty said in an interview on www.tompetty.com, "I think this is the one and only time we've gotten together and reflected on the whole thing. You're right-the pace is always pretty maddening, doesn't allow for taking stock. So, to have this much of an opportunity for reflection is a pretty big deal."
It features interviews with Johnny Depp, Rick Rubin, Eddie Vedder, Jackson Browne, George Harrison and many more.
The film was screened on one night across the USA on October 15, and will now head to a three DVD + one CD box set.
