Melbourne's Electric Jellyfish have issued a statement following the tragic lose of their singer and guitarist Hayden Sweeney and his wife Bridget O'Brien following the fatal car accident which took their lives in the United States this past week.
24 year old Hayden and 26 year old Bridget died after their vehicle swerved to miss a deer on the road while they were traveling on the Ohio Turnpike near Cleveland.The statement from the band reads "First, we want to express our deepest condolences to the families of Hayden Sweeney and Bridget O'Brien. Hayden was co-singer and guitarist for our band and his wife Bridget was our photographer. They were our close friends and were the heart of our band. We will miss them immensely".
"We'd also like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. We have been overwhelmed by the support from our native Australia - as well as here in the United States. It has provided comfort to us during this difficult time".
"We have also been overwhelmed by media interview requests. As we're sure you can understand, we are still in shock. We are not ready to do any media interviews. As we deal with this tragedy with support from our families and friends, we ask that you please respect our privacy and that of our family members".
"We are very fortunate that the three of us did not suffer life-threatening injuries in the crash. Patrick Lias, our drummer, was treated and released. Adam Camilleri, bass player, remains in good condition. He suffered hand injuries. And Michael Beach, guitarist, is in serious, but stable condition. He suffered head injuries".
"Please respect our wishes for privacy at this time. We will contact the media if and when we are ready to do any interviews".

The band was travelling in a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe. American born Bridget was driving. The SUV skidded and hit a concrete barrier after she swerved to miss the animal.
The remaining injured members were taken to Cleveland Metro Hospital.
The band had been in the United States for a month. Before the accident, this was the trip that was meant to get them signed.
