Multi-platinum hick Kid Rock releases 'Rock N' Roll Jesus'.
His tenth album sees Rock take a more, uh, rock n' roll approach to his previously rap-infested stadium bombast. His self-titled album of 2003 saw the redneck patriot delve further into his country roots than ever before, followed by last year's 'Live Trucker' album. The first single from 'Rock N' Roll Jesus' is the dirty Southern plod 'So Hott'. Despite the grubby lyrics, drug references and the literal use of the f-bomb in the chorus, the song became one of his more successful singles, hitting number two on Mainstream Rock charts in the US.
And oddly, Rock's albums have been getting better and better reviews from Rolling Stone over the years, probably because they've outgrown the tawdry rap-rock beginnings. This isn't to say Kid Rock has given up on his first love of hip hop. Philly rapper Beanie Siegel, underground California rapper MURS and Trick Trick, from his hometown of Detroit, have all reportedly expressed interest in working with him.
Rock is confirmed to be working with Reverend Run of Run DMC on a duet album titled 'Running With The Kid', echoing Eric Clapton and B.B. King's 'Riding With The King' and will appear on Lil Jon's forthcoming album 'Crunk Rock'.
