NME have suggested that Oasis and Jamiroquai will also "do a Radiohead" for the release of their next albums.
The British music rag quotes those shadowy "industry sources" suggesting that Oasis will release their next album direct to fans online. Their forthcoming single 'Lord Don't Slow Me Down' will be released on October 21 only as a download, with two live b-sides of 'Don't Look Back In Anger' and 'The Meaning Of Soul'. It's a precursor to a DVD of the same name. The band are apparently out of contract with their label. The Telegraph reported in 2005 that the band's indie label Big Brother are buying their back catalogue back from Sony BMG. In keeping with this control, the rumours are circulating that they won't go with a major for album number seven, due out next year.
The Telegraph also notes that smooth groove merchants Jamiroquai are also out of contract and would be well positioned to follow the lead of Radiohead in selling direct to their fans.
