Revered outsider blues gang The Drones plan a North American tour and limited edition 7-inch.
After being mugged in London and returning home to Australia for their first headline tour in too long, The Drones are already itching to head back overseas. They've whipped up a four-track 7-inch record to take with them as they tour North America with Seattle indie rockers Band Of Horses throughout November. The 7-inch will be first in the ATP Recordings' 'Custom Made' series of limited edition gatefolds and digital downloads. The series offers something old (in their case, a re-recording of 'Cockeyed Lowlife Of The Highlands'), something new ('Gala Mill's 'I Don't Ever Want To Change'), something borrowed (a cover of Charles Aznavour's 'I Drink') and something blue (which they chose to interpret literally, supplying 'Wait Long By The River...'s 'Shark Fin Blues').
The Drones will be travelling with Band Of Horses from Coast to Coast, as well as a dip into Canada, all the way through November. They're currently on their Australian tour, with Sydney, Brisbane, Hobart and Melbourne to go.
