Fugazi singer and guitarist Ian MacKaye insists he is still alive, despite what you might read in the press.
The punk rock veteran who also fronted Minor Threat and founded Dischord Records was reported dead after being struck being by a car outside of a New Jersey theatre on Saturday night.MacKaye read about his passing in the Baltimore Sun and before he had a chance to utter that famous Monty Python line "I'm not dead yet" was also written up as the world's latest rock and roll corpse on Wikipedia.
After removing the Wikipedia posting, he found that shortly after ... HE HAD TO DO IT AGAIN after someone else updated his file with his death.
The 45 year old guitarist has now contacted the newspaper to report that stories of his new career as a corpse are premature.
In a statement, MacKaye says "I am happy to report that I am not dead".
Of course, we aren't quite sure if we should believe him. After all, it was in the newspaper so it must be true.
