Swedish novelty dance-hick outfit Rednex are still having trouble finding an eBay buyer.
Back in February, Rednex were declared the first pop band for sale on eBay. For a mere starting bid of $1.5 million, buyers would get a ready-made group with hit(s), a back catalogue and a seemingly active profile.Notable selling points include the rights to their amphetamine rework of folk classic 'Cotton Eye Joe', a world record for the longest song title ever (at 52 words) and a pavement stone honouring them in the Romanian city of Mangalia. They also got disqualified for the Romanian national Eurovision preselection finals because many elements of their song had been previously recorded and performed.
But after seven months, Rednex-as-product has attracted exactly zero bids on their eBay listing. They restarted the bidding on September 30 and have set an end time of October 10, just in case budding entrepreneurs had not taken note of the original closing date.
The band is still active, enhancing the investment opportunity. They have Northern European shows planned for the next couple of months. Snap up a bargain.
