Swedish faux-American disco-pop group Rednex are selling themselves to the highest bidder.
The buyer will own 100% of the Swedish based company Rednex AB and all royalties and future income will then be directed to the new owner. They compare their sale to the constant shifting of sports teams from one owner to another.
Rednex AB is debt free and all the books will be turned over to the new owner. The only ongoing cost the band has is an administrative fee of around $US4-5,000 per year to pay royalties from samples and the like.
Annika Ljungberg, a.k.a. Mary Joe, the original lead singer currently has control of the company and will continue to do so until 2008.
Rednex were best known for their reworking of the traditional bluegrass song 'Cotton Eye Joe', which saw the band hit the number one spot all around the world way back in 1995.
