Guy Sebastian might just have hit paydirt. The Australian Idol winner has been recording in Memphis with the legendary Steve Cropper and Donald 'Duck' Dunn.
Cropper and Dunn are a part of soul supergroup Booker T & The MG's and was the engine behind the Blues Brothers and the Stax record label.Sebastian has been recording at the Ardent studios in Memphis.
Guy has recorded an album of soul covers with Cropper handling production duties.
Steve Cropper co-wrote 'Sitting On The Dock of the Bay', one of the greatest soul songs of all time,.
His band Booker T. & The MG's were the house band for the Stax Record label, the label recently resurrected by Concord Music in LA.
Booker T & The MG's are known in the own rite for the hits 'Green Onions' and 'Time Is Tight'.
Stax was home to Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Sam & Dave, Carla Thomas, and Albert King.
Sebastian's soul album is expected to cover songs like 'Soul Man', 'In The Midnight Hour', Knock On Wood', ' Dock of the Bay' and 'Hold On I'm Coming.
Guy Sebastian will play a selection of dates across Australia in October.
