A new Who-approved documentary tracks almost five decades of music and mayhem.
Titled 'Amazing Journey: The Story Of The Who', directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Murray Lerner and Paul Crowder, it is the first exposition of the band endorsed by Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey. The film covers the band from their R&B incarnations in the early 1960s, all the way up to 2006's 'Endless Wire', their first album of new material in 24 years. It promises never-before-seen footage from the band's private archive as well as interviews Townshend and Daltrey, with personal friends of the band, those who were witness to pivotal moments in the group's evolution and famous fans like Sting, Eddie Vedder, Noel Gallagher and U2's The Edge. It also features unreleased onstage and backstage footage from their performances at Monterey, Woodstock, The Isle of Wight 1970, Fete de l'Humanite, The Concert for NYC, and more.
The two-hour documentary debuted at the Toronto Film Festival on September 14 and is slated for release as a DVD on November 6 with an extra disc of mini-films on the band.
