Robert Plant And Alison Krauss Collaborate For 'Raising Sand'

Mon, 24 Sep 2007 03:15:56 +1000

Robert Plant will team up with bluegrass star Alison Krauss for the album 'Raising Sand', to be released in the States on October 23.

Recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles with legendary producer / songwriter / film-scorer T-Bone Burnett, the 13-track effort sees the pair reinterpret tunes from Tom Waits, Townes Van Zandt, The Everley Brothers, Gene Clark and Mel Tillis, as well as the track 'Please Read The Letter' from the 1998's Page & Plant album 'Walking Into Clarksdale'.

Burnett told Billboard that he was interested in forcing Plant and Krauss beyond their respective comfort zones when it came to song choices, culminating in Plant tackling the Doc Watson tune 'Your Long Journey'. "He's never gotten close to that kind of country music before," Burnett said.

Audio samples from the album are now up at Amazon.
