Irish producer Pat Moran, who worked on albums for Queen, Iggy Pop, Robert Plant and Big Country, has died at age 63 after a long battle with Pick’s Disease.
Pick’s disease is a rare and permanent form of dementia. Pat started showing signs of the disease in 1998 and had been unable to care for himself since 2005.
Pat was the lead singer UK prog-rock band Spring that also included Pick Withers who later joined Dire Straits. The one and only Spring album was produced by Gus Dudgeon (Elton John). They were a different sounding band, featuring three Mellotrons and guitar.
In 1970, Spring toured with the Velvet Underground.
Moran’s credits include Robert Plant ‘Principle of Moments’ and ‘Pictures At Eleven’, Iggy Pop ‘Soldier’, Big Country ‘No Place Like Home’, Hawkwind ‘Sonic attack’ and John Miles ‘Transition’.
Pat passed away last month. His survivors Brien and John Moran published this obituary in The Guardian today.
