Dance diva Donna Summer will release her first album on new material in more than 10 years in 2007.
Summer has signed with Sony-BMG imprint Burgundy Records and is expected to start work on the new record in coming weeks. "I'm excited and very eager to get started. Let the games begin. It's great to have Burgundy Records as my new musical family," she says in a statement.Donna's last album was 'Mistaken Identity' in 1991. It failed to have any major commercial impact.
Her last Top 10 hit was 'This Time I Know It's For Real' from 1989's album 'Another Time Another Place'.
Donna first became a disco superstar with the erotic epic 'Love To Love You Baby' in 1976. For the next 5 years, she was the international voice of disco with 'I Feel Love', 'Last Dance', 'Macarthur Park', 'Heaven Knows', 'Hot Stuff', ' Bad Girls' and even a duet with Barbra Streisand 'No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)'.
Summer has won 5 Grammy Awards and 6 American Music Awards, she was the first female act to have 3 number one hits in one year, and in total has had 8 number one hits in the USA.
