Day one of Popkomm has drawn to a close here in Berlin as industry professionals filter out across the German capital to the many clubs hosting the bands showcasing their talents.
The trade show was officially opened today with presentations from Bernd Neuman (Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media) and Michael Glos (Federal Minister For Economics and Technology) speaking about the relevance of the ambitious German music industry (the fourth largest in the world).We caught up with the extraordinary Paul Van Dyke who talked about his place in DJ history as well as the relevance of Popkomm. Coming up are speeches from Billy Bragg, who will discuss the state of the music industry, as well as Mike Batt and we'll bring you the best of music from around the world as we explore stands from countries as diverse as Iceland, Slovaki, Finland, South Africa and Turkey.
