The radio play of Britney Spears' new single 'Gimme More' fell drastically following her laughable MTV Video Music Awards performance.
The comeback single gave the dethroned pop princess the second-best radio (Contemporary Hit Radio / Top 40 Radio) debut performance of her career, amassing some 1,062 spins for the week ending 2 September. This fell to 336 spins immediately following her VMA performance, dropping even lower at the end of last week.
Arizona Radio DJ Seth O'Brien told the Reuters news agency, "After the hilarious performance at the VMAs, there has been even more buzz about the song. But I think this performance will be the running joke of Britney's attempt at a comeback. I bet we will see a drop in interest (in 'Gimme More') after a few days."
