Sutasi, the search for unsigned talent in Asia for the planet, launched today in Bangkok, Thailand.
Sutasi is the concept of Australian music industry veteran Colleen Zulian. Ms Zulian developed the idea over a 7 year period to become the platform to discover and launch talent across the globe from the world's most populous region."Half of the world's population come from Asia. Why shouldn't they have an opportunity for exposure globally just like the talent in USA, Europe or Australia", she told Undercover.
To showcase the talent from the region, the launch in Bangkok featured performances from Thailand based Hangman and Futon, as well as Australian based Future Role Models.
Hangman was the surprise for the night. It was the unveiling of the new band for platinum selling Thai act Toe, who made his name in the region with his former band Silly Fools'. Hangman performed their new song 'Chocolate', which was produced by English born Thailand based producer Simon Henderson.
Futon is the hybrid Thai/English act featuring charismatic lead singer Gene and former Suede drummer Simon Gilbert. They performed 'Strap It On' from the forthcoming album 'Painkiller'.
Future Role Models is the new band from Taxiride singer Jason Singh. The band also features drummer Dayne Lawless, guitarist Aaron Laguda and bass player Kit Riley. The still unsigned band performed 'The World As Your Know It', the song they recorded with Snoop Dogg.
Sutasi is designed to uncover real talent for the region and showcased around the world.
Colleen Zulian, the former President of the Australian Songwriters Association, has designed Sutasi to be both a means to discover performers and songwriters.
The events throughout 2008 are divided between three regions of Asia and culminate with the Grand Finals in October.
Entry forms are now available from the website at Sutasi.com
