The Deadly Awards music nominees have been announced.
The Deadly Awards have been running since 1995, celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders who are excelling in music, sports, entertainment and in their communities. This year's music nominees have been announced, with the winners to be honoured in a ceremony at the Sydney Opera House on September 27.Shauntaii Batzke, Patrick Davies, Shaz Lane and Radical Son will battle it out for Most Promising New Talent. Band of the Year will be chosen from Nabarlek Band, The Grenadines, Black Image and Yilila. William Barton, Troy Cassar-Daley, Jessica Mauboy and Dan Sultan have been nominated for Artist of the Year.
Single of the year will be chosen from Nabarlek Band's 'Brown Bird', Brothablack's 'Are You With Me Out There?', Sharnee Fenwick's 'How 'Bout Never' and Dan Sultan's 'Your Love is Like a Song'. Kev Carmody's 'Cannot Buy My Soul', Nabarlek Band's 'Manmoyi Radio', Shellie Morris' 'Waiting Road' and Kutcha Edwards' 'Hope' are all in the running for Album Of The Year.
You can buy tickets to attend the event by calling the Opera House box office but those who can't make it can catch the festivities on SBS Tuesday October 2 at 10pm.
