Australia's great aunt of soul, Renee Geyer, promises her twenty-second album 'Dedicated'.
Having scored chart hits in every decade since the '70s, Geyer's rich voice and adept interpretive skills mean that number twenty-two should be another triumph. It's the first since 2005's contemporary 'Tonight', recorded by alternative rock hitmaker Magoo (who had previously worked with Midnight Oil and Regurgitator).'Dedicated' has been produced by Geyer herself and engineer Adam Rhodes. She promises a mix of classics and new songs across eleven tracks. Australia's musical poet laureate Paul Kelly has thrown his hat into the ring, helping out on 'Please Leave Your Light On' and 'When A Woman Loves A Man'. Geyer toured with Kelly as far back as 1995.
Geyer also has a shot at Marvin Gaye's 'Distant Lover', Ann Peebles' 'Somebody's On Your Case', 'I Wish It Would Rain' which was made a hit by The Temptations and James Brown's funk soul classic 'It's A Man's World'.
'Dedicated' will be released on September 29 through EMI, with the first single, 'I Wish It Would Rain', hitting radio and TV now.
