For better or worse, Michael Hutchence finally looks set to be immortalised by Hollywood.
Producer Chris Westerman told the Hollywood Reporter that he was concerned Hutchence's legacy was becoming tarnished due to rumour and innuendo surrounding the cause of his death. Hutchence died from either suicide or accidental death via autoerotic asphyxiation in a Sydney hotel room in 1997 at the age of 37."That is not the memory of what we are after, and that's not the story of who the man is," Westerman told Hollywood Reporter, in reference to Hutchence's death. "What we are aiming for is the journey through a person's life via their head."
Westerman has drafted British music video director Nick Egan for the project, titled 'Slide Away'. Egan was a friend of Hutchence, and directed several INXS video clips, including 'Don't Lose Your Head' and 'Searching' from 1997's 'Elegantly Wasted' album.
