Michael Hutchence’s former personal manger is planning a musical and documentary based on the singer’s life.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that LA-based entertainment agency APA has struck a deal with Hutchence’s personal manager at the time of his death, Martha Troupe, and entity called ‘Michael’s Trust’.
Plans include a stage musical based on the INXS singer’s life and a documentary about the band, despite the remaining members of INXS already putting the kybosh on an earlier documentary by denying the use of INXS’s music.
Troupe said to SMH, “We've already started talking to producers and directors about a documentary, and I think we have that figured out. A documentary is going to be made. I will make sure, no matter what, and I hope it is with everybody's blessing.”
APA agent Keith Naisbitt told the SMH, “'Michael was an incredibly charismatic performer, and he lived a full life. He was a rock star in every sense of the word, warts and all. In fact, he was one of the last great rock stars.
“There isn't enough credit for what an incredible performer he was. With this deal, we'll be looking at all avenues. We want to go out there and really shine a light on Michael.”
