Seminal Sydney noise rock monolith Midget return for an extra special reunion show in Melbourne.
In the mid to late '90s, Midget were a revered unit. Creating rhythmic, fractured combat rock, the quartet left Brisbane to base themselves in Sydney and toured with some of the finest local and international bands of their time. They appeared with Shellac, The Jesus Lizard, Fugazi, Babes In Toyland, Boredoms and Hateman, and bashed ears at festivals like Livid, Big Day Out, Warped and Homebake. The band parted ways to experiment with new bands Golden Mean, The Starboard Cast and New Wave Hookers. But recently the remaining three members of Midget - Chris, Keith and Ian - found themselves drunk and in a rehearsal space and rediscovered the damaged genius of their sound.
A freshly reformed Midget played two shows in Sydney with Magic Dirt to a rapturous response. It was enough to convince them to stage a comeback show at Melbourne's Northcote Social Club on October 12 with fellow noise-rock punishers Shooting At Unarmed Men.
With talk of new recordings and re-releases of cult classics like 'Total Abandonment of Better Understanding' and 'The Toggle Switch', now is the time to rediscover the jerking grooves of Midget.
