The surprise package of the Countdown Spectacular 2 tour is Pilot's David Paton.
Paton was the first act to get the entire crowd on their feet. He was also the first one that had them singing along at every word. The crowd knew the song 'Magic' from the first few notes and then sang the words to both 'Magic' and his other Pilot hit 'January'.
Paton may be known for those two songs, but in reality he is an accomplished and professional musician.
What most people don't know is that after Pilot, David Paton has been heard on albums by The Alan Parson's Project, Paul McCartney and Wings, Kate Bush, Chris Rea, Jimmy Page, Elton John and Rick Wakeman.
He played guitar on the McCartney classic 'Mull of Kintyre' and with Kate Bush on 'The Kick Inside. For Elton John, he appeared in the albums 'Ice On Fire' and 'Leather Jackets' and was a part of Elton's band for the 'Live In Australia' recording.
Paton occasionally gets Pilot out of mothballs. In November, he and Stuart Tosh will perform as Pilot in Japan.
