Great-grandfather of rock n' roll Bo Diddley has suffered a heart attack in Florida.
Fortunately for the 78-year old guitar legend, he was already in a Florida hospital getting a medical check-up when the cardiac arrest happened.Diddley reported that he felt unwell during the procedure last Friday at the North Florida Regional Medical Centre and was transferred to the emergency room. The heart attack happened soon after.
Spokeswoman Susan Clary said that Diddley underwent surgery to fit a stent in his heart to allow better blood flow. He was moved from intensive care to cardiac care yesterday morning.
This latest ailment follows from a stroke in May after he was reportedly "disoriented" at a performance in Iowa. The stroke affected his speech recognition and left side motor skills. He has been dealing with many ailments of late, and has a history of hypertension and diabetes.
Diddley is now reported to be in a serious but stable condition.
