Former Destiny's Child member LeToya Luckett, who simple goes as LeToya, has hit the number one spot in America after six years of obscurity.
The star, who co-wrote the Destiny's Child hit 'Say My Name' (which won two Grammys), went to the top spot with her self titled solo debut, 'LeToya', coming in ahead of the much anticipated Pharrell Williams album.LeToya was fired from Destiny's Child in 2000, together with LeTavia Roberson. They allegedly discovered they were out of the group when they saw the 'Say My Name' clip on TV, featuring their replacements Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin (Franklin later left and the group stayed as a trio).
Luckett and Roberson attempted a new group called Anjel, but thanks to a collapsing production company, the group never made it as far as their debut album.
Luckett owns a boutique clothing store called 'Lady Elle' in her native Houston, TX that is run by her mother. In it she stocks her former band mate Beyonce Knowles' clothing line, 'House of Deron', suggesting the two have reconciled after a history of lawsuits and break ups.
