Vanessa Amorosi is about to debut a new rock sound when she releases her new album 'Somewhere In The Real World' in October.
At her Melbourne showcase this week, Vanessa performed with a 5 piece band and four backing singers with some blistering guitar work form Marcel Yammouni.Yammouni took front of stage to spotlight a guitar solo from the song 'Perfect' which sounded like it he was channelling Ritchie Blackmore.
Vanessa, already a veteran of live performing although she is still in her early 20s, showcased 5 songs from the new album.
'Fire' was another powerful, near metal track.
'Somewhere In The Real World' was recorded in Los Angeles and Resonate Studio. Green Day, U2, Christina Aguilera have also spent time there.
She worked with Greg Wells (Mika, Timbaland, Pink, The Veronicas), Cliff Magness (Pink, Avril Lavigne) and Grammy winner Chris Lord-Alge (Green Day, Pink, Avril Lavigne) writing and recording tracks for the album.
The first single, 'Kiss Your Mama', will be released on September 8th.
