Former Leonardo's Bride singer Abby Dobson releases her solo debut 'Rise Up'.
You might remember her from the smash hit single 'Even When I'm Sleeping' of 1998 when she was half of Leonardo's Bride alongside Dean Manning. The song not only received APRA Song Of The Year accolade that year, but has been voted as one of APRA's Top 20 Australian Songs Of All Time'.Now Dobson brings a slew of collaborators to the table for her solo debut 'Rise Up'. Two songs, 'Horses' and 'Missing You' were produced by Abby and Robert F Cranny, who is best known as Sarah Blasko's recent co-writer.
Other luminaries include Paul Mac, Mark Axiak of iota and Sandrine, James Haselwood (who has worked with The Dissociatives and Mia Dyson), Josh Pyke, Nicholai Danko from 78 Saab, Pat Wong (who worked with Leonardo's Bride), Stella Mozgawa of Mink and even more.
By all reckoning it sounds like an ambitious and intriguing mix. 'Rise Up' is due out on October 6, with first single 'Shining Star' hitting iTunes on September 4. She'll showcase track from the album with her band in mid-September.
