Fans have been taunted with rumours of Van Halen reuniting with David Lee Roth, some of which have seemed well founded, for years now. But this time, it might actually be happening.
Billboard reports of a press conference likely to happen next week in Los Angeles announcing the tour and also mentions that several holds on arenas in "major markets" are in place. The lineup for the band is expected to be David Lee Roth on vocals, Eddie Van Halen on guitar, Alex Van Halen on drums and Eddie's son Wolfgang Van Halen on bass.
The last time Van Halen toured was in 2004 with Sammy Hagar on vocals. Hagar had a number of hits when he fronted the band including 'Why Can't This Be Love?' before he was replaced by former Extreme singer Gary Cherone.
Cherone lasted one album and tour and tends to be brushed under the carpet now.
Van Halen's string of hits while fronted by the charismatic Roth include 'Jump', 'Panama' and the cheeky 'Hot For Teacher'.
