UK indie electro act Hot Chip have taken on the ultimate remix challenge: Kraftwerk.
The group have remixed two tracks from the legendary German electronica pioneers for a forthcoming single. The songs are 'Aerodynamik' and 'La Forme', which first appeared on the collective's 2003 'Tour De France Soundtracks' album, the first album of new material in seventeen years for the band. Remixing classics may have drawn the ire of their electronic brethren.'Aerodynamik' was remixed by the group's vocalist and guitarist Alexis Taylor and vocalist and synthesizer operator Joe Goddard. 'La Forme' was worked on by multi-instrumentalist Al Doyle and drum machine programmer Felix Martin.
Goddard said, "What makes Kraftwerk brilliant is the combination of fascinating textures and sounds, simplicity and efficiency in production, and a habit of writing beautiful melodies."
The remixes follow Hot Chip tackling Amy Winehouse's 'Rehab', Gorillaz's 'Kids With Guns' and Junior Boy's 'In The Morning'. It will be released on CD, 12-inch vinyl and as a digital download.
