Producer, songwriter, singer and one of the all round most influential figures in pop music Lee Hazelwood has died at age 78.
He was diagnosed last year with renal cancer, a cancer that attacks the kidneys.While his early success came from writing and producing a number of hits for guitarist Duane Eddy, he is best known for his legendary run of hits with Nancy Sinatra.
Hazlewood most famously wrote and produced Sinatra's biggest hit 'These Boots Are Made For Walking' and he also sung with her on a number of tracks.
His label LHI Records was founded in 1967 and saw him release albums from artists such as The International Submarine Band, which features Gram Parsons on vocals.
He released a number of solo albums, as well as the critically acclaimed 'Nancy and Lee' (with Nancy Sinatra).
He was born in Mannford, Okalahoma in 1928 as Barton Lee Hazlewood.
His last album 'Cake Or Death' was released late last year.
