Korn have riled weirdoes Devo by co-opting their devolution concept in a new mockumentary trailer.
Members of Korn have produced a high-camp trailer for 'Devolution: Nature's U-Turn'. Devoted music fans might recognise the concept of evolution reversing itself after new wave freaks Devo spent thirty five years promoting the idea.Of course, the instant that Devo member Jerry Casale posted the quip "We denounce this as impostors playing with fire" on their official website, Korn fans started the flamewar. Casale told Rolling Stone, "Their fanbase, being pretty cretinous, took it like a serious smackdown."
After an avalanche of bile-filled emails, Casales ruminated that, "This is a perfect example of devolution. You're a case in point, pal. Gee, I'm sorry we thought all this up thirty years ago and have been putting it out there and preaching it ever since."
Casale said he didn't expect any acknowledgement from the rap metal kingpins, but as of this writing Korn's www.evolutiondevolution.com site features links to articles about the feud and to Devo's homepage and myspace.
Devo just returned from a comeback tour of Europe and plan US, South America and Australian tours. Korn release their seemingly untitled eighth album on July 31.
