Rihanna has become only the seventh artist to spend 10 weeks atop the UK singles chart.
In reaching its tenth week at number one, 'Umbrella', the lead track from Rihanna's latest album 'Good Girl Gone Bad', is the first single to surpass nine weeks since Wet Wet Wet in 1994 with 'Love Is All Around'.The record still stands at 18 (non-consecutive) weeks, set in 1953 by Frankie Lane with 'I Believe'. The longest consecutive run at the top was the 16 weeks spent by Bryan Adams' 'Everything I Do (I Do It For You)' in 1991.
Rihanna's single debuted at number one on May 20 on the back of download sales alone, a first for a female artist.
