Prince, who's hush hush club shows have become the stuff of legend over the years, was shut down by Minneapolis police on the weekend.
The gig was at Minneapolis' famed First Avenue, a club made famous by Prince's 1984 movie 'Purple Rain'. It was the first show he had played there since 1987.The band, famed for their late appearances, entered the stage at approximately 2.45am and the gig was shut down at 4am, which according to city laws is when all music must stop.
The show was his third that night, the first being at a department store to promote his new perfume, 3121. The second being at the Target Centre (not another department store, an arena named after a department store).
In honour of Prince's three gigs in his hometown, both the Minnesota state governor and the mayor of Minneapolis declared the 7th of the 7th, 2007 "Prince Rogers Nelson Day".
Take that, Al Gore.
