Australian family groups unsurprisingly disapprove of the forthcoming 'Roc Tha Block' tour.
The Herald-Sun reports that the Family Council of Victoria and the Australian Family Association are concerned about the track record of American rappers Akon and The Game, who are slated to headline the forthcoming 'Roc Tha Block' tour.AFA national secretary Gabrielle Walsh stated that the performances should at least have age restrictions. "We don't really need people from the criminal end of town acting as heroes up on stages for our young people to admire," she said.
FCV secretary Bill Mueller stated that "The concert promoters are putting profit before principle" by bringing the bad-boy rappers to Australia.
International star Akon is an admitted felon, spending five years in jail for robbery and drug distribution. The Game's crimes are more petty, being charged with disorderly conduct in 2005, impersonating an undercover police officer in 2006 and is currently on bail for allegedly brandishing a gun at a pick-up basketball game.
Immigration spokeswoman Kate Walshe said that The Game's visa is currently being assessed but claims that the department has not yet received a visa application for Akon. They denied Snoop Dogg a visa earlier in 2007.
