Queen guitarist Brian May has chosen not to perform at the Princess Diana Memorial Concert on the weekend to avoid embarrassing himself and others.
May has decided to finish his PhD on astronomy, rather than duet with British soul singer, Joss Stone. The pair were planning on doing the Queen hit 'Under Pressure' together.
Phil Symes, a spokesperson for May told the Daily Mirror "He was never confirmed although they were in discussions about it. Brian's up to his ears trying to complete his PhD thesis so he couldn't do it."
According to Contact Music, May said "I just could not get my head around the way they have arranged it. I didn't want to risk embarrassing them - or myself! It was too short notice for such major changes. "I have chatted to Joss and we are going to create something new together soon."
Joss Stone, the woman who shortly before performing at Live 8 claimed to have never heard of "Bob Gandalf" added ""I only called him up a few days ago going, 'Why don't you play some chords during my duet?'. I'm always trying to organise things last minute, but he needed more time to prepare, which I totally understand."
