Paul Weller and Graham Coxon have collaborated on a new, limited edition single.
The release is through the Regal Singles Club, and will feature a track written by the two artists, namely 'This Old Town'. The b-sides, 'Each New Morning' and 'Black River', were penned by Coxon and Weller respectively. To be released July 30, they will be available for digital download, in addition to a limited run of 5,000 in the 7-inch format. The UK rock icons are joined by another famous name, with Zak Starkey playing drums on 'This Old Town'. This is also interesting for the fact that a former (though maybe not) member of Blur has collaborated with a current member of traditional rival Oasis.
Coxon lavished praise on the Jam / Style Council frontman, saying, "As a long time admirer of Paul I never dared imagine getting a chance to work with him. I was bricking it when we first met ... but he is an absolute gent and a shockingly great singer and musician. It's been a total pleasure."
Weller returned the favour with, "I've always been a big fan of Graham's and love his work, so it was exciting for me to work on something new with him."
