Ex-Klinger wordsmith Ben Birchall releases his debut album with The Corrections.
The cheeky Melbourne troubadour is probably best known for his work fronting Klinger in the late-'90s, who had cult indie pop hits with 'Hello Cruel World' and 'Ben Lee'. After his partner in crime Dave Rogers left the band, Birchall released the mini solo album 'Year Of The Monkey' with the equally addictive single 'Three Minute Revolution' in 2004.Now the well-loved scamp is back with his band The Corrections. They've been working on their debut album 'Last Ditch Brigade' since 2005, with producer Matt Maddock (Something For Kate, Dan Kelly). The suite of swooning powerpop tunes will finally see the light of day on June 22 through Cavalier Music.
To support the album, Ben and band plan an East Coast tour throughout August but you have the chance to catch the songs early. Ben has been playing some sly warm up shows around Melbourne, but you can see the whole collective play The Yahoo Bar in Shepparton tonight. Ben will play some tunes solo alongside Emma Heeney and her band at Melbourne's Wesley Anne on July 13.
Stay tuned for the full set of August tour dates.
