Legendary Rhythm and Blues pianist Floyd Dixon has died, aged 77, of cancer at Chapman Hospital in Orange Country, CA.
The Texan born pianist was a major figure in establishing the Californian RnB scene in the 50s, and thanks to hits like 'Hey Bartender' and 'Wine Wine Wine'.He was born in Marshall, Texas in 1929 and moved to Los Angeles with his family in 1942 at age 13.
Dixon, who called himself Mr. Magnificent, never married and is survived by two cousins.
