Australian rocker Billy Thorpe has been awarded the Member of the Order of Australia in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.
Thorpe, who died at the age of 60 in February, was given the award for not only his services to music both on stage and off, but also his charity work for organizations such as Support Act, a charity which benefited down and out musicians.This year 375 men and 149 women where acknowledged by Queen Elizabeth II for their services to the country.
Olympic sprinter Raylene Boyle, golfer Jack Newton and tennis champ Ashley Cooper where also mentioned in the honours.
